ABOUT ME
Hello, my name is Andrew Walker. A Yorkshire born designer from the UK currently based in Perth, Western Australia.
Since graduating from a 3D Design degree in 2007. I have worked as an Ice Cream Man, Bartender, Builder, Broadband Salesman and for a travelling Australian circus, before getting my ‘foot in the door’ moment and moving to London's trendy streets of Shoreditch to work as an Illustrator.
The opportunity to work in product prototyping soon followed which gave me the chance to collaborate with some of the world's leading brands, agencies and design studios.
In 2018 my geeky obsession to ‘tinker’ led me to educate myself in CGI software. This turned out to be a light bulb moment and since then, CGI has become the main focus of my practice and creative thinking.
The Suspicious Carrot is a CGI driven creative studio, specialising in Product Visualisation, Prototyping and 3D Imagery. The level of craft and attention to detail is there to be seen in the images that I produce. My aim as a designer is to continue to progress, develop and work with like minded clients and creatives, who also share a passion for highly desirable and unique still and moving imagery.
THE STORY BEHIND THE NAME
On a wintry Saturday night in London town. I caught the last northern line tube home to Archway station. Tired from work and looking forward to a much needed snooze, I got off the train and slowly approached the steep escalator to exit the station. Halfway up the moving stairs, I noticed a couple of drunk lads who were still in the party mood, began joking around and play fighting. Things escalated quickly when one of the guys started to lift the other and threw him onto the middle section of the escalator. The guy started to slide down picking up speed and bumping over the central warning signs. As he quickly began heading towards me I looked behind and realised that I was the last person on the stairs, nobody but me could help save him from what would be a devastating end to his night. Coming at increased speed I reached out to try and grab any part of his body and luckily held onto the bottom part of his trouser leg. With my last bit of energy, I pulled him onto the stairs stopping him from going any further. After a few expletive words, the drunk guy gave me a relieved hug. Then looking at me square in the eyes he said ‘The Suspicious Carrot, Midnight Hero’. Arm in arm the two drunkards skipped on their merry way, and I became The Suspicious Carrot!
